Now that we're in the directory, we can check to see if we see the mame executable using list. It should look something like: $ cd /path/to/sdlmame The easiest way is to use the change directory command then drag the folder onto the terminal. YYou'll need to navigate to the directory that SDLMame is in (or locate it). Step 5: Launch SDLMame using the terminal Just like OpenEMU games may require dependencies. Step 4: Install ROMsĭrag your ROMs into the ROMs folder within SDLMame (If it doesn't exist, create one). Right like the mame unix executable and click open. This is where things get a little strange, as if you try and execute SDLMame, it'll give you the same warning as OpenEMU. Decompress it into a folder of your choosing. Go to, and download Apple Silicon or Intel version depending on which type of CPU your Mac has. Many Steam ports for macOS are based on this library. SLDL2 is a library for cross-platform development designed to provide low-level access to hardware such as I/O and graphics cards. Next, install the amework into (in your root) Library/Frameworks. Go to, and download SLD2 for macOS and decompress it. The downside is that SDL Mame's UI is pretty minimal, and it requires being launched from the command-line but works great. SDLMame is a port of MAME by It also features MESS which emulates many retro consoles as well. As of writing this, OpenEMU is currently in lock-step with SDLMAME as both feature version 0.235, but OpenEMU is not Apple Silicon native. For years, OpenEMU was stuck at MAME version. SDLMAME is a macOS port of MAME and MESS that features both native Intel and Apple Silicon support and (previously) has been updated much more frequently than OpenEMU's MAME core. I had some difficulty finding one that worked in more modern distributions of MAME. You'll see the NeoGeo ROM in your game list, but ignore it and double-click the games as you normally would. Step 4: Optional: NeoGeo EmulationĮmulating NeoGeo games requires one extra step, you'll need to get the NeoGeo BIOS Rom. Try a popular search engine or archive site like for information about ROMs. You'll need to install that file by dragging it onto the window. If the game you are trying to play has a dependency, it'll display an error when you try and launch the game, with the name of the missing file. MAME games are file name specific, unlike most other emulators, so do not change the name. zip files into OpenEMU under the Arcade tab. Installing games is pretty straightforward. Launch OpenEmu, open preferences, and select cores. Right-click OpenEMU, and select open to bring up the prompt that will let you run the application. OpenEMU is open source but it isn't signed, you'll see an error if you try an execute it. Step 2: Safelist MAME (Big Sur 11.x and above) If I had to guess, it's likely because there are a few missing assets (the control menu for MAME doesn't have a skeuomorphic graphic, for instance), and it doesn't filter out BIOS files. I'm unclear as to why after years, the MAME version is still experimental. Regular OpenEMU does not support the MAME core, so you need to get the experimental version from. It's designed to be the one-stop-shop for Mac emulation, and it does a fantastic job. OpenEMU is a beautiful core-based emulator (akin to RetroArch) that supports many game consoles. Many freelancers get this wrong when writing a proposal. Placing too much focus on your experience. We’ve asked them to share their top mistakes, and how best to avoid them: Luckily, at Bonsai, we’ve worked with over 150,000 freelancers, many of whom are firmly in the top 1% when it comes to earnings and reputation. That’s the downside to a template - if one error slips the net, you’ll end up repeating it every time you make a new proposal. While it’s undoubtedly true that using a proposal template can speed things up when it comes to pitching for new work, there are still some pitfalls you need to avoid.īy understanding what these are, you can tweak your template to make sure you aren’t making common mistakes. 8 Common Mistakes to Avoid While Using Proposal Templates Once your prospect accepts your proposal, you can then take the milestones and costs they’ve approved, and simply sweep them into your contract. It’s your chance to clear up any misunderstandings, ask the right questions, and (importantly) get the answers to those questions. And by positioning yourself right, you can charge higher rates and work with a better quality of client.įinally, your proposal can act as a framework for your contract. Your proposal should be an extension of your brand, and, as Jeff Bezos said, “your brand is what other people say about you when you’re not in the room.”īy using a proposal template, you can control how your brand is perceived every time you pitch for new work. If you can’t do that, you’ve fallen at the first hurdle. That last part is crucial because, if you’re responding to an RFP (“request for proposal” - sometimes called a “request for pitch”) you need to show that you’ve read and understood the initial brief. By using a proposal template, you get to establish smooth lines of communication, define expectations, and demonstrate that you understand the needs, goals, and ideas of the client.
These PC exclusive Battlefield games, especially BF2 and BF2142, have superior sound processing compared to the newer ones thanks to the use of OpenAL and its object oriented 3D sound processing, in which every sound has its own 3D coordinates. Mods for these PC exclusive Battlefield games included new equipment, custom maps, custom game modes, massive overhauls, and total conversions. Now with Rental Servers going through EA, there’s quite a lot of questions. Compare that to the locked down joke that Battlefield 1 is, described below:Īs you know, Rental Servers for PS4 and Xbox One have gone through EA. Commander mode was more fleshed out and strongly emphasized teamwork tactics, level design was better and more creative and often more balanced, they had more content, their DLC was all free, and they were true PC games with outstanding mod support and free dedicated server capability. How did these games compare to Battlefield today? They featured the same core game modes and sometimes more, like Titan in BF2142 which is the favorite of many Battlefield players (a similar mode reappeared in Battlefield 4: Naval Strike), but apart from this the classics were better in nearly every way. Four games, four different settings, making for excellent variety and a very strong start to the franchise. The first three sequels, Battlefield Vietnam, Battlefield 2, and Battlefield 2142 were all PC exclusive. That’s right, it took place in World War II, and believe it or not it predates Call of Duty (and Medal of Honor predates both).īattlefield 1942 was not the only PC exclusive Battlefield game however. Although its single player campaign is poor, repetitive, and historically inaccurate, and its multiplayer is pathetic for a PC game.īut the first game in this franchise was Battlefield 1942, which was not a modern warfare game as one may expect. Its most recent release was Battlefield 1, poorly named but popular nonetheless, and seen as a bit of a turnaround for the franchise due to it having a much more stable launch than Battlefield 4 and not being poorly received like Battlefield: Hardline was. Its popularity skyrocketed with the release of Battlefield 3 in 2011, largely due to it being an impressive technological showcase. Everyone already knows they originated on PC.Īlso see our companion imgur gallery for this article here.īattlefield is one of the most popular multiplayer shooter franchises today. There are also franchises like StarCraft that fit the criteria of this article, but we do not think it is necessary to include them since their popularity on consoles is not great enough. While other popular franchises did not begin as PC exclusive, most of them still trace their design back to PC exclusive games (excluding games originating from Japan of course), like BioShock being a spiritual successor to the PC exclusive System Shock franchise. For this reason, the older games in every franchise shouldn’t be skipped, as they almost always offer something different and typically they offer more. The impact of multi-platform success was usually significant and the older games in each franchise are usually quite different than the newer games this is because the very first game in each franchise was designed to be unique in order to stand out and capture an audience, but as time went on they conformed to the changing gaming industry, which in this day and age means dumbing down the game in all aspects, removing content in order to spend as little money as possible on the game, and reusing the same formula (with all its restrictions) that other successful games in the genre use. We will also discuss the impact that becoming multiplatform had on each franchise. In this article, we present a list of multiplatform game franchises that originated on PC, usually with their first game (but sometimes more) being PC exclusive at least for a year. The majority of bestselling video games belong to a franchise, and it often comes as a surprise to today’s gamers that most of these multiplatform franchises originated as PC exclusive games. 4/1/2023 0 Comments Beebeep tutorialIn this way, you can use TeamViewer for LAN screen sharing in an easy way. Next, you are free to do anything you want. It will ask for the password and after entering that, you will be presented with the desktop of the target. Step 3: To connect to your PC via TeamViewer on other PC in LAN or vice versa, you just enter the IP of the target machine and hit enter. Also, in LAN mode your ID will change to the IP address of your PC. You can see that in the status that they show on the main interface. Step 2: After you have enabled the LAN connections, then when the PCs not connected to the internet then they will run in LAN mode. You can see the screenshot below to understand it. Step 1: Open TeamViewer and open the Options window from the Extras section and then configure it to accept LAN connections. If you have any two or more PCs in LAN then you can initiate a connect as mentioned in these steps And the password for the connection is generated by itself. The only difference is that in place of TeamViewer ID, you will have to use IP of the remote PC in LAN. In LAN mode, you can use it in the same way as you use it for remote connections. But few people know the fact that TeamViewer can even work in LAN connections. It is free for personal use and comes with features to access the remote desktop and do other things. TeamViewer doesn’t really need any introduction as it is the first remote desktop tool most people use. You can see that in the screenshot above that I have added. You can initiate a chat with anyone and in the chat window, there is an option to share your screen. Just run it, specify your name there, allow it through Windows Firewall and then you will start seeing your peers. The quality of the video is not that great but it good for internal communications. If you have multiple Photos libraries, you can scan across them, too.Īn image deemed to be a duplicate that should be discarded can be swapped to be the one kept, among other operations. I apparently have 43,169 photos in my master Photos library, and I hadn’t spotted many duplicates in my perusal. Once you have Photos libraries migrated or created, you can use PowerPhotos’ duplicates feature ( File > Find Duplicates). And, it can seamlessly migrate old iPhoto or Aperture libraries and turn them into new Photos libraries.įinally, if you’re running an older version of macOS and using iPhoto, Fatcat Software also offers PowerPhotos predecessor, iPhoto Library Manager ($29.99), but here’s a nice touch: If you buy either one, you get a license for the other at no additional cost.PowerPhotos’ Find Duplicates feature creates an album with all the images marked as duplicates that you accepted. Finding duplicates with PowerPhotos is easy and it works!īut wait-there’s more! It’s also got its own image browser, so you can search for photos in multiple libraries without even opening the Photos app. I’ve tried many apps that claim to find duplicate photos, but none do it as well or as easily as PowerPhotos. Which brings me to the second great feature: Find Duplicate Photos. It took all night but PowerPhotos merged my three libraries into one! While everything looked good and worked flawlessly, I noticed I had failed to enable Eliminate Duplicates While Merging, so I ended up with a lot of duplicate photos in my monolithic, all-encompassing library. It took all night, but the next day all 65,000 photos and videos were in one library. While a single monolithic library may slow down the Photos app more than three smaller ones, I still wanted everything in one place. The first is merging multiple Photos libraries into one. Two features make PowerPhotos a must-have, at least for me. It works in conjunction with the macOS Photos app, adding tools that help you manage and organize your photo collection, create and manage multiple libraries, and copy photos and albums from library to library while retaining their metadata, including keywords, descriptions, titles, dates, and favorite status. PowerPhotos ($29.99) was just what I needed. Then I remembered hearing Dave Hamilton mention PowerPhotos on his Mac Geek Gab podcast, raving that it offered the tools that should have been built into the Photos app… PowerPhotos to the Rescue! But I was afraid I might the ability to revert modified files to their original state, not to mention all of my carefully curated albums, star ratings, keywords, metadata, and such. I suppose if I were a more patient person, I could have exported the contents of the two archival libraries and imported them into the current one. You have to close the current library to open a different one, so there was no easy way to merge their contents. The bad news was, as I mentioned, Photos restricts you to a single library at a time. That way I’d only need to look in one place for any of my 62,000 photos and 3,000 videos. With larger and cheaper hard drives now plentiful (for backups), I decided I wanted to merge all of my photos from the three libraries back into a single Photos library. I Want My Single Monolithic Library Back! Unfortunately, Photos only lets you use one Photos library at a time, so while breaking up my library made backups and storage easier, it made finding a specific photo a nightmare. I ended up with three separate Photos libraries containing nearly 20 years of pictures and videos. I guess I started taking more pictures about then because I had to do it again in 2017 when the second Photos library grew to over 200GB. At some point, I decided that my iPhoto/Photos library was too big and archived everything prior to 2014 in a second iPhoto/Photos library. I’ve been taking digital photos for nearly two decades and have managed my photo collection in Apple’s Photos (formerly iPhoto) app for most of that time. 4/1/2023 0 Comments Ipicture of spiderYou can typically find them in garages or workplaces with lots of debris. Unfortunately, black widow spiders do like to hang out in homes, particularly in the southern and western parts of the U.S. Identifying a black widow is easy: It has a shiny, jet black exterior with a bright-red, hourglass-shaped marking on the underside of its abdomen. “If the spider’s bite includes a large enough dose of hemotoxic venom, it can cause necrotic wounds or lesions that can take months to heal or require surgical repair.” This can appear as a white blister or discolored ulcer and cause other system-wide symptoms like muscle aches and a fever.ĬREDIT: David~O / Flickr David~O / Flickr Creative Commons “In the case of 90% of brown recluse bites, reactions are not severe, but they can be,” Troyano says. However, its bite can be extremely painful should you happen to get one. The brown recluse cannot bite a human without “some form of counter pressure,” per the CDC-say, you slip your foot into a shoe and trap it. It likes to hide in homes-preferably in dark, undisturbed areas like closets, shoes, or basements-and sheds, most commonly in the Midwest and southern states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It’s also identified by its six eyes instead of the typical eight. The brown recluse-also known as the fiddleback or violin spider-has a distinct violin-shaped marking that starts at the top of its head and goes down its back. Brown recluse spider bitesĬREDIT: K2sleddogs / Flickr K2sleddogs / Flickr Creative Commons In the U.S., there are two types of spiders that can cause more severe reactions: the brown recluse and black widow. ✔️ Possible itching: This symptom depends on how you personally react to an insect bite, but some spider bites can cause the release of the compound histamine in your body, and that can cause itching, says Nick Kman, M.D., an emergency medicine physician at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. ✔️ Mild pain: As for what it feels like, Troyano says most people compare it to how you’d feel when you’re stung by a bee-so, not fun. You might have swelling, redness, or irritation around the bite site. That can cause a localized reaction that’s similar to what might happen with if you got a mosquito bite or bee sting. ✔️ Redness and swelling: When a spider bites, foreign proteins from its saliva are injected into your skin, Troyano explains. ✔️ Two tiny holes: Spiders have two fangs, so you might see two tiny holes in the center of the bite, says Howard Russell, M.S., an entomologist at Michigan State University. However, there are a few signs that it could be from a spider: And the fact is true for many insect bites. “With a few exceptions, it is very hard, even for medical professionals, to positively identify a bite or skin irritation as a spider bite,” explains Nancy Troyano, Ph.D., a board-certified medical entomologist with Ehrlich Pest Control. If you didn’t witness any critters, the source might be trickier to pin down. If you’re bitten and see a spider scurrying away, the odds are pretty high that it was the offender.
